As you can see from scanning the site I still have a lot of work to do. If you would like to write a short piece or submit a picture on any of the campaigns then feel free. I will gladly post them.

My Grandfather joined the Irish Guards in September 1958 with the rank of Boy. He would be posted to the Junior Guardsman Company, Guards Training Battalion then stationed at Pirbright Camp. In October 1959 he would be appointed Junior Lance Corporal. He would remain with the Junior Guardsman Company until May 1960 when he was posted to the Irish Guards Depot. On joining the Depot he would be deprived of his Junior Lance Corporal rank by the CO Lt Col G G Fowke. He would remain with the Depot until June 1960 when he was posted to the Battalion having reached the age of 17 1/2. He would remain with the Battalion until September 1962 when he was discharged aged 19.
My Grandfather passed away on the 2nd February 2005 aged just 62.
RIP
It was not until after my Grandfather passed away that I became aware of his service in the Irish Guards. Since then I have sought out as mush information as possible on my Grandfathers service and on the Micks in general. The two World Wars are well documented but other campaigns are not. Hopefully the information on these forgotten campaigns will be of great interest to Micks past & present, their families and also anyone else with an interest.
This site is still under construction. If anyone has any information or photos that they would like included in this site then please feel free to contact me. conorbreslin@hotmail.com
I hope you all enjoy the site. Please feel free to leave a message in the Guest book.
