Egypt

In November 1936 the Irish Guards embarked for Egypt onboard HMT Dorsetshire.

Under construction.....

Palestine

In July 1938 the 1st Battalion Irish Guards are sent to Palestine. After the tour the Battalion would move back to Egypt before returning to England in December 1938.

The following picture which was taken from 'The Times' shows the four NCO's of the Irish Guards being presented with their Military Medals.

 The reason I say four NCO's is because Guardsman Murphy had been promoted by the time of the presentation.
