A History Of The Irish Guards

From its formation in 1900 until present day

Malaya

In September 1964 the 1st Battalion Scots Guards would deploy to Malaya with 9 Company Irish Guards attached. The Irish Guards would in turn have a Platoon of Coldstreamers attached. They would become part of 28th Commonwealth Brigade and would be based at Tarendak Camp, Malaya.

On the 30th November the Battalion would take over the responsibility of the Malaya - Thai border from the 3rd Royal Australian Regiment.

During its stay in Malaya the Battalion would go on two tours of Borneo:

January 1965 - April 1965 Sarawak

September 1965 - December 1965 Sabah

If anyone has any additional information on these tours then I would be interested in hearing from you.
